Roman yellow glass Janus head flask
2nd - 3rd century AD.
Height: 7.85 cm. (3 1/8 in.)
Very fine. Ground rim, otherwise perfect.

The flask with molded body in the form of a Janus head, with two faces of Putto with chubby features, framed by heavy curly hair. Long cylindrical neck, with ground rim.
This flask belongs to the rare intermediate type of head flask, between the early type of the 1st-2nd century AD, and the later type of the 4th-6th century AD.
