The Siren, a mythological creature combining woman and bird, is depicted here with a birds’ body and a woman’s head. She is shown frontal, with her pair of arched wings spread out in symmetrical ornamental composition, framing the head in between their pointed ends, continuing the triangular shaped body, which is pointed downwards.
The head with centrally parted hair with short clocks, tied with a diadem over the forehead. The face with large almond shaped eyes under big arched eyebrows, straight nose and full lips. The thick neck is adorned with a beaded necklace above the chest. S shape spiral ornament below the wings.
The siren is finely modeled in the style of the Early Classical period, with reminiscent of the Archaic style, especially in the modeling of the eyes and the mouth, with the gentle smile, and the ornamental design of the wings.
