Roman bronze lamp with mask handle.

L. 16 cm (6 ?¼ in.), H. 8.9 cm (3 ?½ in.)
Perfect condition. Fine green and reddish brown patina.

The lamp with pear-shaped body, flaring nozzle with broad rounded tip, on a ring base with concentric circles.
The body surrounded by a flat rim band with a ridge, with an ivy leaf-shaped hole at its center, with an incised coiled stem.
An arched handle attached to the back of the body, terminating with a theatrical mask, facing toward the nozzle. The mask wears a large cap, under which protrude a row of stylized curls and double screw-locks falling down on each side. The face with large eyes, straight nose, open mouth and a decorative palmette below the chin.
The mask is finely modeled in the classical style.
