Greek Classical bronze lion with inscription.
5th-4th century BC.
L.8.1 cm. (3 3/16 in.).
Missing tail loop, otherwise perfect. Reddish patina with green spots.

New Sold
The lion is crouching with the head turned up to the right, the forelegs extended forward and the back legs bent at the body sides. The tail is twisted in a loop at the back.
The lion is modeled in a fine classical style, in a majestic attitude with calm, yet strong expression.
A Greek inscription is incised around the back of the lion.
