Zeus (-Jupiter), head of the Olympian gods, is seated on his throne, wearing himation over the lower body and left shoulder, leaving the breast and the right shoulder exposed. His full curly hair is centrally parted , and he has a heavy curly beard. The face is finely modeled with majestic and calm expression, with certain smile in the full lips. His right hand is holding a thunderbolt, and his missing left hand was holding his scepter.

This type of Zeus sculpture is known as Jupiter Capitolinus, after the statue of Jupiter in the Capitoline, Rome, inspired by the statue of Zeus by Phidias, at Olympia, of mid 5th century BC.
